It's a new year. It's a fresh start. We'll be hosting our 2nd networking reception of the new year at Hudson Terrace rooftop

. Not surprisingly, Hudson Terrace is just another hidden gem in NYC as far as networking is concerned. Read carefully for the following items. Before you send a question or request to the organizer or assistant organizers, please make sure you've gone through everything on this page.

1. Theme

Business oriented. Business attires expected. RSVP is a must to make it a free event. For people not on the RSVP list, a charge of $10 will apply at the door. You can bring one guest for free. If you tweet about this event with a hyperlink to our website and a hashtag (namely: #NYEBN), you can bring up to 2 guests. The same will apply if you share the event on Facebook. Please send us a note if you do this.

2. Venue

We will have exclusive access for the venue. Expect to network at the main floor most of the time since that's where our vendors & sponsors will be. The 3rd level is accessible but not where the crowd will be. There is area outside if you want to smoke. Scroll down to read more about the venue and see pictures.

3. Vendors/Partners

As usual, we will have tables available for our vendors and partners. We are rolling out a special sponsorship package for 2010. If you are interested in becoming a vendor or sponsor, send a request to Susan Risdal at Susan (at) WebStudio13 (dot) com.

4. Name Tags

We've been getting requests about switching to higher quality name tags this time. The problem with the traditional sticky badges is that they won't stick very well. To remedy this issue, we decided to use the high quality plastic holders for all our networking events going forward. To offset the costs, we ask each member to chip in for their own name tags. Please read carefully about this new rule:

I. If you have your own plastic holder w/ your names in it, you can bring it yourself. In that case, you will not pay for our plastic holders at the door.

II. If you get a plastic holder from us when you check in, it'll cost $1 each. We encourage you to keep the plastic holders so you wouldn't have to pay for it again in the future.

III. No sticky name tags will be tolerated for our future events. Those things fall off easily and won't work well for our networking purposes.

5. Other Things (Important)

I. We will be serving drink specials. It's about $6 or $7 for beer/wine. Mention NYEBN for special price.

II. You must be 21 and older to attend this event. Don't forget to bring your ID.

III. Print out the ticket to speed up the admission process. Click here to see a sample of theadmission ticket.

The Best of NYEBN 2009 (My First Video Project)

2009 is the year I started several entrepreneurial ventures.  In addition to this blog, I founded anetworking organization that I particularly enjoyed.  The mission of the group is to unite entrepreneurs from different corners of the world through networking events we host, and improve their business skills in different areas through the seminars and workshops.  By the end of 2009, we have hosted 29 meetings in total.  Now there are 2,900 members in the group, still counting.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day going through all the pictures we took at our 2009 events and ended up creating a slideshow video with the best pictures.  With Windows Movie Maker, I am able to combine 100 pictures and integrate them into a 4 minute and 51 second long audio: Black Eyed Peas’sI Gotta FeelingIt’s some hard work but the result is satisfying.  While I was going through hundreds of pictures, it particularly reminded me of what our team had accomplished in 2009.  I am sure It’s just a start.  We still have a long way ahead.  But for now, enjoy the video.
